Windows Server 2008 and Citrix XenApp 5 skills update course
In the last month Bernhard an I had the change to get a skill update upon Windows Server 2008 and Citrix XenApp 5. At our workplace we use a lot of Windows servers and are we operate a large Terminal server farm since a decade.
In this farm we provide a lot of applications and some of them are running centralized for the whole concern. At the moment we are running a mix of Windows Servers 2000 and Windows Server 2003 all of them with Citrix Metaframe 4.0.
We have also a Citrix Webinterface per country. Currently we provide Webinterfaces in Austria, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland an Dubai (United Arabic Emirates). The German Webinterfaces are managed by German colleagues. All of them are using RSA Secure ID Tokes for two faktor authentication.
Both courses were rely interesting! We plan to migrate to Windows Server 2008 Terminal Server and XenApp 5 in fall this year. XenApp 5 have some nice features but for us only the combination of the 2k8 Server with the new, hopefully better, print spooler system and with the advantages from the new Citrix version, is a good package.
Stay tuned! Maybe we post some information about the migration….
